Gentle Violence includes a series of exhibitions through which the human body is being presented in an educational and artistic manner, while the surgical treatment is being aesthetically reinterpreted. The exhibition aims at broadening the patient’s knowledge in what concerns the surgical treatment and at offering a visual explanation for what surgeons call a “beautiful surgery”, while the photographs render the poetic speech of the body.
The exhibition had its first display at Brukenthal National Museum (Sibiu, Romania) in September 2014. Visitors could see a series of spectacular photographs taken by Cristina Bobe during open heart surgeries, medical photographs of the heart and its inner structures captured by Dr. Horia Muresian, heart surgeon, and a creative soundscape designed by Sebastian Florea and inspired by the open heart surgeries he attended during the project.
